“The gig went really well – up to the point when Simon was struck by
lightning!”
(Steve)
It was one of the hottest days of the year in Germany. At around 5pm there was a spectacular electrical storm and a sprinkle of rain which cleared the air and Kurparkfest 2008 kicked off in spectacular style.
With 5 stages competing sonically there was a real carnival atmosphere. Following a spectacular firework display MIND2MODE took to the stage at 11pm to a rapturous reception.
The set was:

It was a roller-coaster ride of back to back hits which the crowd really enjoyed making the MIND2MODE stage a very popular attraction.
During ‘Personal Jesus’, the heavens opened. The driest place in Kurparkfest was with the band – so a stage invasion ensued with the party continuing.
As the rain stopped the thunder and lightning caused a full power failure during ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’.
Moving into the second half of the show, by popular demand the band repeated a few songs.
The weather was becoming more and more violent. With MIND2MODE’s stage being the only one above the water level and was the last one to finish – all be it for safety reasons at 2:30am which meant that the last part of the show, featuring some more ‘obscure’ tracks could not be performed.
As the band began to dismantle the gear, a bolt of lightning struck the stage taking out Simon and a few others.
“I guess I was tempting fate by wearing the gold metallic Mr MacPhisto devil
suit!”
said Simon. “I have to say the care at the hospital was quite
outstanding, though I think they may have been more interested at why C3PO’s gayer
cousin had just been admitted for a lightening strike!”
So it was safe to say that this gig really did end with a bang!
Stand in bass player Dirk Schulte was on excellent form and all the band would like to thank him for doing such a great job.
Jacky will be back when we play 3 gigs in a week, with 2 gigs in Germany( 13 August at Maschseefest 2008, Hannover and 16 August at Citifest, Beckum ) and climaxing on 17 August at Tribfest – the UK’s biggest tribute band festival.
